GWSS counts nearly doubled since the last update, to slightly more than 400 adults total caught among 123 traps in citrus groves and vineyards. Such peaks in activity are typical for GWSS at this time of year. Nonetheless, given the high counts in recent weeks, it's plausible they may continue to climb over the next few weeks.
50 traps captured GWSS adults, with as many as 26 caught on a single trap. 16 traps caught at least 10 GWSS, which were located in several areas spread throughout the Valley.
Vineyards that received a Spring soil application of imidacloprid should be protected. For those that did not, careful monitoring of GWSS is encouraged in the coming weeks and a foliar treatment may be warranted - especially for organic blocks.
