GWSS counts showed a marked decrease since the last update, to slightly more than 200 adults total caught among 123 traps in citrus groves and vineyards. This decline likely represents a temporary reprieve given the relatively mild temperatures over the last two weeks, which tend to result in lower insect flight activity (and as a result fewer trap captures). Historically, peaks in GWSS activity in the region tend to occur in July or early August.
38 traps captured GWSS adults over this period, with as many as 27 caught on a single trap. Just 5 traps caught at 10 or more GWSS, with those tending to be the same locations that have seen high counts over the last month.
