Temecula GWSS monitoring - Late June

GWSS counts increased sharply since the last update, with more than 350 adults caught among 123 traps in citrus groves and vineyards. This increase may be indicative of a more pronounced, and much earlier, peak in GWSS activity compared to last season - which was unusually late.

seasonal counts

46 traps captured GWSS adults over this period, with as many as 31 caught on a single trap. 15 traps caught at 10 or more GWSS, with several pockets of high activity spread throughout the area.

Keep an eye on GWSS activity in the coming weeks. Vineyards that received a Spring soil application of a conventional systemic should be well protected from impacts of this early vector activity. However those vineyards relying on foliar treatments, especially organic products with relatively short residual effectiveness, may need to adjust the timing of those applications.
