GWSS activity into early Fall remains high, but is finally starting show declines that are more typical for this time of year. Two rounds of trapping were conducted over the last month with a total of 335 and 176 GWSS collected among 131 traps in citrus groves and select vineyards throughout the valley
In the most recent round of trapping, completed last week, 36 traps captured at least one GWSS adult, with up to more than three dozen on an individual trap. However, just 3 traps collected 10 or more GWSS, down sharply from the peak at the end of August. Traps with the highest counts continue to be many of the same ones in the south-central and northeast portions of the valley that have high capture rates over the latter part of the Summer
